There are few scenes in the history of motion pictures as iconic as “Make ‘em laugh,” performed flawlessly by the magnificent Donald O’Connor. They really don’t do it like this anymore. Watching this sequence gives me a sense of the history of this wonderful medium and its ability to uplift and move, and occasionally serves to remind me why I’m in this biz. 

One of the best scenes I have ever seen, and I’m not saying that lightly. Surely he made his Vaudeville roots proud. There might be one or two others in this film that make my best ever list, but it’s a hypothetical list that I haven’t actually made…. When I do!!! I ‘ll report back.
